Position: Cafe Attendant (Seasonal)

Department: Moorings Cafe

Reporting to: Moorings Supervisor

Salary: $11/hr

Summary:

The primary role of a Café Attendant is to provide an exceptional, efficient and clean retail experience for our guests. As Poets Cove is a high end resort, guests expect the highest possible service level in all of the venues on property. This position requires attention to detail and a “never say no” attitude.A Café Attendant is responsible for providing a high level of food service to resort guests. In addition the Café Attendant should always be aware of happenings at Poets Cove and on Pender Island and be ready to provide information to guest inquiries.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Opening and closing the Cafe.
  • Cleaning of the cafe and the surrounding outside decks.
  • Ensure that the market runs as "clean and green" as possible.
  • Greeting of all guests and answering any questions they may have.
  • Retail and deli sales.
  • Coffee bar sales/Barista.
  • Beer/Wine and tobacco sales.
  • Use of point of sale computer and Moneris machine.
  • Inventory control/restocking.
  • Daily cash out and accounting process.
  • Offering guests information about the other services at Poets Cove.
  • Ordering as necessary.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be 19 years or older.
  • Serving it Right.
  • Food safe level 1.
  • Previous retail experience.
  • Food service and barista experience.
  • High level of guest service.
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks and occasionally lift heavy loads.

 

Position: Spa Esthetician (Seasonal)

Summary:

The Esthetician administers professional facials, waxing services, nail services and body treatments as assigned to our guests. They must possess a thorough knowledge of the skin, have excellent facial massage and skin extraction techniques, possess excellent cleanliness and sanitation skills and be willing to train in our spa’s specific facial and body treatment offerings. They must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness and beauty solutions to meet the needs of our guests. They must hold and maintain a current provincial license.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Be on time for your shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
  • Provide consistent professional facial and body treatments in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices.
  • Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
  • Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products while educating and training guests in these areas.
  • Actively promote home care programs, meeting minimum retail sales goals.
  • Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform prep work and properly clean and restock room as required.
  • Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention.
  • Actively promote the spa, treatments, services, sessions and retail, as well as programs, promotions and/or discounts available.
  • Handle guests’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
  • Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by guests, ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
  • Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the spa.
  • Assist in all areas of spa operation as requested by management.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.

  • Excellent communication and listening skills, as well as basic computer knowledge.

Position: Front Desk Agent (Seasonal)

Summary:

As a Front Desk Agent, your core responsibility is to provide exceptional guest service focusing on enthusiastic and efficient communication.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Greet all guests in a friendly, helpful manner.
  • Co-ordinate with Front Desk on to-days call a heads.
  • Contact past groups and sell future reservations.
  • Process phone, email and internet reservations.
  • Process owner reservations / requests.
  • Aide in set rates / packages.
  • Process wholesale and travel agent reservations.
  • Aide in training Guest Reception Agents.
  • Be familiar with all facilities and services within the Hotel and offer general information to guests.
  • Assist with desk coverage during meal breaks.
  • Answer the switchboard and direct calls in a proficient, courteous manner.
  • Keep the front desk and back office clean and free of clutter and garbage.
  • Other duties as requested.

Position Requirements:

  • Strong customer service background.
  • Eye for detail and follow through.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Minimum High School Diploma.
  • Preference given to those with direct Hotel Front Desk experience.
  • Preference given to candidates with Post Secondary education in the Hospitality field.
  • Previous experience on a RDP computer system and quarter shares (asset).
  • Knowledge of resort and surrounding area.
  • Flexible to work different schedules.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn in a team environment.

 

Position: Housekeeper

Summary:

Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager you will be part of a team providing an exceptional service at Poets Cove Resort & Spa on beautiful Pender Island.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide janitorial services as required and assigned by Housekeeping Manager.
  • Clean all guest room washrooms and replenish linen.
  • Change and make guest room beds to hotel standard.
  • Sort and separate soiled linens.
  • Wet wipe and dust all furniture and artwork in guest rooms or units.
  • Vacuum, carpets and wash floors in guest rooms or units.
  • Replenish all required amenities and supplies required in guest rooms or unit.
  • Clean all appliances in guest rooms or units.
  • Remove garbage, separate and store all recyclables in the proper storage bins.
  • Turn in all Lost and Found items.
  • Ensure all keys and radios are signed out and in before leaving your shift daily.
  • Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with all departments.
  • Clean and maintain room attendant closets and golf carts.
  • Follow safe work practices.
  • Assist with all duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • First Aid/ CPR Certification an asset.
  • Fluency in English; both written & verbal.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Able to stand/walk for long periods of time, lift & carry up to 30 lbs.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Anticipate guests' needs and provides information on food and beverage selections.
  • Takes orders and delivers food and drinks in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Be familiar with all food and beverage items in the restaurant in order to assist guests with their selections and to promote these items.
  • Enhance revenue flow through suggestive selling techniques.
  • Maintain accurate guest checks, handles cash float, makes accurate deposits, balance credit card and cash sales at the end of every shift.
  • Keep restaurant and work areas clean and in an orderly fashion.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in Health and Safety initiatives.
  • Complete opening and closing duties.
  • Performs additional duties as requested.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
